I'm Getting Nervous.....5 Days

I'm getting nervous jitters and it's still 5 days until the marathon. I'm not nervous about finishing or anything, I'm just nervous. I'm really glad I'm running this first one with friends that will help, especially with the pace. I keep telling myself, go slow....just finish...don't worry about the time...just finish.. then I wonder what those last 6 unknown miles will be like...but then I can picture myself crossing the finish line and being happy with just being there...oh yes I'm so excited...did I say that already?

I didn't run at all while we were on vacation but did a far amount of walking on a couple of occasions and carried grandkids alot or pushed a double stroller for them...those of you that run and push a stroller my hat is off to you...awesome efforts....still I didn't run at all....

Then yesterday we were rained out of our normal Monday morning run, tomorrow we run and the weather looks like it will cooperate....we are running a very shortened route...more walking really....so tonight when Bonnie gets home we may sneak in a 2 or 4 mile route, if the mosquitos aren't too bad.....

Did I mention that I'm nervous? It's only 5 days.....but I'm ready to conquer the beast....

My advice (for what it's worth) is to ENJOY IT. Even the nervousness. Just go have fun and enjoy the experience and observe what's around you and carry it with you on the days afterwards. How's that sound?

It's natural to be nervous at this point, and excited at the same time, right? Chicago is still a month away, and I'm starting to get nervous already!

You've got taper madness, that's all. You'll be fine! Remember, it's the journey that counts - the training, the friends, the experience and yes, crossing the line. Can't wait to read all about it!

the nerves are totally normal. at least you were so busy for the last few weeks that you didn't have time to be nervous! you'll do great and as long as you are positive the last 6 miles will be just as amazing as the first six...
