Oklahoma City Marathon....Done!!!!

Last year I ran the OKC Half Marathon, this year I graduated to the big league here and ran the OKC Marathon. Despite the dead of night (we did an early start at 4:30 a.m.), rain (between miles 2 and 11), and wind (oh that dreaded north wind all race long) I did finish. Not the fastest of my times, but not the slowest either (6:32:06). I was beat when I crossed the line and so glad to be done.

During the rain which pretty much happened almost all before daylight, the streets were really slick, almost to the point where you felt like you were skating.

I am so out of shape. I did do more training for this race then I did for Little Rock or Houston earlier this year, but it shows in my time and how I felt for much of the run. I'm getting back into the training mode with my local running partners though and look forward to the next bunch of weeks, training hard for Grandma's in June.

My hat goes off to one of my running partners, Rachel, who finished Boston last Monday in 5:42:00 and then ran ahead of me and finished yesterday in 5:50:00 like she was not even winded. I felt honored to run with her for the first 2 or 3 miles before I had to slow down. The kicker here is that she's 68!!! I have all the respect for her abilities and talent.

I'm sore today, my right knee is most sore but it is much better this morning than it was all day yesterday after I finished. I'm hoping that by the weekend I will be ready to get back into training full tilt again.

Way to go Randy!! I heard the weather was a little nasty there. We had rain just before the start at Nashville and then it was nice for about 3 hours. Then the sun came out and baked us. Weather is the one factor we cannot control. Finishing in tough conditions makes it even sweeter. Rest that knee!!

Holy Schmoly Randy. Nice work graduating from the half to the full. Great job on the finish. This is actually one of my dreams, to graduate from the half to the full, but the feet don't seem to be able to hang. Glad I can live vicariously through you!!

CONGRATS!!

Great to see you and Bonnie last night at Chili's. I felt badly later when I realized that I had called you "Paul" for some crazy reason. Proud of you for running the OKC!
