Fun in the Mud - My First Trail Run
A muddy rat, that is what I think. Wow what a run. They did a man-made mud hole that was about 40 feet long then they strung yellow barricade tape over it about 3 feet high and said that we had to go thru the mud and stay under the barricade tape, what an experience. Even though it rained and sleeted earlier in the day, it was dry, sunny and almost hot by the time we raced. The course was supposed to be 5k, and was a 3 loop thing, howeve, they admitted that it wasn't exactly 5k....so I'm unsure of the results. Plus I'm not sure of the final numbers from my Garmin as it took a pretty good hit in the mud when I stumbled on the first run thru it. Oh I almost forgot, the two guys to my right are modelling the last of the SWAG that we got...the Zest Bathrobes for finishing and getting doused to get some of the mud off. We got ours just a bit later....I got to watch one of the females that finished give a wild show to one of the firemen that were soaking all of us down...she must have fallen face first and got her top soaked in mud...he was focusing attention there...and she pulled it down to let the water work from the inside out...and showed off a bit more than she wanted....or maybe she thought he was single...anyway it made for an interesting finish to the run and made it worth the time to wait on the cold water shower.

That looks like a lot of fun - and a bit wild!
Holy moly, Randy!!! That sounds like a crazy race!!! But it also sounds like you had a great time!!!! Way to go!!!
I hadn't yet run my race when you posted on my blog last (thank you so much for the kind words!). You can go read my entire race report and see some pics if you're interested. Let's just say I surprised the hell out of myself in that race. ;-)
I know this wasn't a "typical" trail run, and for what it is worth, I don't care to repeat one like this any time soon.
ROFLMAO!! OMG that looks like a BLAST!! Is all your gear wrecked though? How's the Garmin and sneaks holding up now? LOL Great Job!!! I'm going to have to think about running that one LOL!
Randy that is such a hoot! I sure hope that your Garmin is ok!! The background (mountain)is just gorgeous! Looks like something right off of a postcard!
Sounds like a once in lifetime event (maybe because once is enough?) Sounds like fun though.
Finally the mud!! It looks like a complete blast to me. "Mud Runs" are unique events, most trail runs may have mud but rarely require you to crawl through it. Glad you enjoyed it.
What a hoot Randy, glad you had so much fun!!
Sounds like a blast, Randy! Great pics to show off the mud. Glad you had fun, but surely do hope your Garmin is okay. If not, call them - they'll fix it. Mine won't link up on the PC anymore, so I'm sending it in - no costs to fix either.
Great photos and how fun!! I've never heard of anything like that. Good job!
