It's TGIF
This is supposed to be my day of rest, and it's been raining off and on. I have been to a local running store where the owner is a pedorthist, I think I spelled that right. He is not a podiatrist which is an MD. He is board certified in what he does and works with several local orthopods. He showed me how to tape my arches and ankle to give me better support and to keep things from shifting in directions that they shouldn't. He also taught me a different way to lace my shoes that helps with control as well.
Yes he did show me a new pair of shoes, but I didn't buy them...at least not yet. He agreed I have a few more miles on my NB's before I need to hang them up. He did show me though where they aren't as good at motion-control as the guys at the NB store claimed them to be. The shoes he showed me are Brooks Beasts. I wonder who might be wearing them and can give me some feedback on them?

Hey Randy, My friend wears the beasts and loves them. He has not had a problem with shins or anything since wearing them. I keep trying to talk my store into the Ariel's (women's version of that shoe) for me but they say I don't need them. But I have heard great things about the Beasts.
Can you give us the taping tips and lacing tips? :>)
I know, that Marcy is one funny chick. He he he. :>)
BTW, I do like to support my local running store with purchases but if you do decide to go with the Beasts you might shop around...I have seen them as cheap as $50 at a store here. I called my friend and he went and bought two pairs...lucky guy.
I don't have those shoes, but my mom wears brooks and swears by them. The guy sounds like he knows what he is talking about!
I used to wear the women's version of those - the Brooks Ariel. I loved them! But, they tweaked them a bit too much one year I started getting blisters in the arches of my feet. Now I wear the Saucony Grid Stabil.
Ohhh dear, what is Lisa talking about?
Anyway, I've never had any experience with Brooks but I have heard good things about their shoes. I think Scott has a pair (of Brooks, I don't know if he has the Beasts)?
I'm with Lisa, shop around!!!
Well I understand the idea of shopping around. However, he spent alot of time with me today and I walked out without buying anything from him and got lots of pointers/tips to help with my arches, my toes, my shins. I don't necessarily feel obligated to him, but he does give club members a good discount and he even was trying to find me a pair of last years Beasts to get into for almost half the cost ($50) but didn't have any luck.
I'll try to explain the lacing thing in my next post.
I totally understand that, Randy! I bought my last pair at the running store because I really appreciate the help I get there and it's worth it to me to have that resource, kwim? Maybe get your next pair there and THEN shop around. :>)
