Slow Thursday
Today was a very slow day following yesterday's humid run. The humidity wasn't quite as bad this morning, we started 2 hours earlier too. One of my running partners didn't show up and in the interest of national safety, since she is a party of the Navy, I called her cell phone at 5:30 in the morning. She was not as wide awake as she should have been since her alarm didn't go off. I bet she thought yesterday was Saturday so she didn't have to get up at a godawful hour of the night to run. Anyway we ran without her.
Mile 1: 13:31
Mile 2: 13:03
Mile 3: 12:48
Total: 39:33 Pace 13:07
Avg HR: 134
MAX HR: 155
I'm glad to see that my heart rate was more normal today. Ohhhhh I just realized there are negative splits there again....I just need someone to help pace me at the start....I wish I had started yesterday off like this and kept improving.

Your numbers are looking great!! I wish you lived in my neck of the woods because we run so close in pace!
Nice run. I think that humidity can play a big part in our heart rates!
Yuck on humidity!!
How are you keeping track of your heart rate? do you have a garmin thingy that does everything including tell you what size underwear everyone that passes you is wearing?
Or just regular old count the beats ?
Great splits!
Nikki - you are so observant...yes I have a Garmin thingy...it even tells more...LOL....
Thanks
Ohhh do tell!!!
nice run randy.
and thanks for looking out for our national safety! :) lol
Ooooooooooo Randy, those are some pretty sweet splits!!! Look at that!!!
Humidity can really make running hard, so it's probably to blame for that heart rate irregularity!
Wow! I didn't know that the Garmin could tell you what size underwear everyone is wearing. Does it have a commando warning? Looks like I need to finally read the Garmin instruction booklet to find these amazing options.
We know a lot about rain here in Washington State but not much about humidity. I went for a 4 mile run once when I was on business in Taiwan when the humidity was 100% with 85 degree weather. I chose to run on the treadmill in the hotel the next two days.
Keep up the good pace! It really helps to run with running buddies to make the miles go faster. Do you ever do any speed work at the track? I went from a constant 8min/mile pace to 6min/mile in about a month and a half with one track workout a week. All I did at the time was run the straights and walk the curves at the track for about an hour. I ran at about 85-90% speed. By the end of the hour I would weave in zig zags to make the recovery time longer as I walked the curves. This may not be something you want to try during your spell of high humidity.
See the trouble these women can lead you into...blushing.....
